Media
As soon as I understood what media was, I realized that we wouldn’t be able to get a full grasp of the concept, under remote learning conditions. It is defined as the method by which the document goes from the writer to the reader. However, before even picking the media, it is important to know what kind of methods are out there. The most common media for any document is email and fax. Some governmental agencies could even rely on physical mail, like a written letter. Since we live in a digital age, everything we do is recorder on a computer using software. We can send documents across the world in seconds.
Considering all the pros and cons, the digital media is probably the most effective. Written letters or faxes could get piled up in the person’s mailbox or just be left on their desk without being read. Digital documents appear in the person’s inbox and if it’s not a recurring email, it is most likely going to be read at some point. This type of media also helps conserve paper supplies. Just imagine if you had to print out 30 copies of a 40-page engineering proposal to distribute. Not only would that be bulky and uncomfortable to transport and hold but would encourage deforestation and enable the paper industry. Here is a screenshot that goes to show how media was very uniform this semester:
As you can see, all of my work this semester was either a PDF or a DOCx
